DNC Chairman Howard Dean just announced Sen. Hillary Clinton won't speak here today because of the hostage crisis at her New Hampshire office.
"Details are sketchy," Dean told disappointed and gasping DNC members in Vienna. "Senator Clinton is now dealing with a very difficult problem ... We will keep them in our prayers."
You can follow our coverage of the hostage situation as it develops on our home page.

What's she going to do? Fly over there and negotiate with the alleged bomber? It's not even a hostage crisis anymore. The hostages (a whopping two of them) were released. Way to go media for making a mountain out of a molehill once again.
Posted by ryan | November 30, 2007 2:20 PM
who exactly is Howard Dean praying to? And why is it okay to pray now?
Posted by tim | November 30, 2007 2:20 PM
Let's hope the perp is a wacky leftist and not a conservative.

It's probably just another political stunt developed by the Clinton campaign to garner sympathy.
Posted by John D Gray | November 30, 2007 2:22 PM
Wow! Another plant! The polls must say she is in need of some "Sympathy" - what better than a hostage crisis. Hope it is a Moslem - then we can say the crisis is back here right in our homes

Howard Dean prays? That's a shocker...
Posted by Jon | November 30, 2007 2:26 PM
She probably staged it to take the heat off CNN clintons news network. It's typical of her family. who wants more of this if she gets elected

How convenient is this for Hillary? I would not put it past her or her campaign to set up a publicity stunt.
Posted by LensmanCT | November 30, 2007 2:29 PM
When did Dean and the DNC start praying?
Posted by Paul | November 30, 2007 2:29 PM
She probably had the "hostage situation" staged. Obvious plant.

This is all part of Hillary's campaign strategy. Much like her questioners, this hostage taking suicide bomber, too, is really just a plant. She is going to personally negotiate with this "terrorist" and secure the hostages' release. Proving both that she's "tough" and that negotiating with terrorists is the right way to go.

I bet that this is a staged event to spotlight Hillary as a person who can handle problems.
Posted by Tom | November 30, 2007 2:45 PM
This is a perfect opportunity for the Democrats to demonstrate their negotiating skills that they say the Republicans should use around the world. They should strive to learn why the alleged bomber is so upset and what they can do to reestablish his faith in them. Attempt to understand and accept his point of view. Certainly Hillary will be able to resolve this issue. This must be a simple misunderstanding I'm sure.

Interesting. She doesn't have a problem talking to the terrorist President of Iran who regularly calls for the destruction of the West, but won't talk to some guy with a bomb strapped to his chest. I thought the Democrats percieved these nuts as "freedom fighters." I'm sure the guy is just "misunderstood" and this will end up being "George Bush's" fault. Heck, blame it on Global Warming.

Now is Hillary's chance to show America how to negotiate with the terrorits. At long last, she has the opportunity to ask this guy why he hates her and what she can do to correct the problem. America can hardly wait to see such powerful leadership in action! You go girl! Show us how it's done! Put your rhetoric into action! Lead the way! Blaze those trails! Show Bush how to negotiate with the ones who hate you!

Such situations as this are truly regretable. Once again man chooses to solve his personal opinions in a dastardly way. However, I am stuck that such a time aa this we ask people to pray. We seem to be able to handle everything except dire circumstances. We need God at all times, good and bad. We need to be reminded that God needs to be considered in all situations. Especially when we are making judicial, legislative, and executive decisions that allows evil to reign. God will not be mocked.

Here's a scenario...the bomber/terrorsit says he's got hostages and has other plots to imminently harm or kill Americans.
Is torture off the table Mrs. Clinton? Quick...we need an answer!
Posted by Chuck T | November 30, 2007 3:28 PM
To Carl Carter: Yes, anyone can pray, but when someone mandates prayer--like in a school--that's when there's a problem.
To Ron: Obviously this is a perfect opportunity for Republicans to step in and show how quickly they can defuse this situation--get it? DEFUSE--of course they probably will end up arming other insane people with even bigger bombs and creating a bigger mess out of the situation. Maybe Bush could goad the bomber into detonating his device like he goaded Iraqi insurgents to "Bring it on" and attack our troops.
Tom: Do you also believe that George W staged 9/11?
There are insane people in this world that do insane things, this is one of those times. How dare the three of you attempt to make this into anything other than what it is: A lunatic is holding people hostage.

For all those who made snarky comments about Dems praying etc. What happens if this situation is resolved peacefully with no one getting hurt? NOMINATE MONICA LEWINSKY INSTEAD
If Hillary can claim having first-hand White House experience from having been close to the president THEN we have to consider that Monica Lewinsky herself may have been closer to the Presidency.
In this respect, Monica Lewinsky can claim more experience with the Presidency and the Whitehouse than can be claimed by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
So then, why not NOMINATE MONICA LEWINSKY instead.

Just look at the frightening pictures of police state operations at hand. Personally, I do not like to see a bunch of tyrants dressed in camo and black toting machine guns for something like this. Posted by John Czerakawski | November 30, 2007 6:25 PM
I don't see what is so hard for Hillary in this.
I am sorry for the hostages, pray for their safety. Is this what is hard, the "hard situation" she is "dealing" with?
Is she going to lead the SWAT team in to rescue her troops? Figure out which shadow to jump at next?
How to use this to make up for the cancellation of her fundraiser at Dickie Scrugg's house (now there are some birds of a feather)?
Terrible for those at risk, but Hillary ain't one of them. She is an observer.

Talk about freaking out and losing her cool -- now whenever someone wants to put a wrench into Hillary's plans all they have to do is attack one of her campaign offices in some way and they know she'll just freak out
She should have trusted the police in NH to do their job and then focus on sticking to her schedule -- not ignoring the crisis but mentioning it in her speech before the DNC.
She sure doesn't have the temperment to be President.

Reason for Hillary's cancellation at the DNC:
This, my friends is a good indication of what kind of a leader Hillary will be in a world crisis. Her non-appearance at the DNC exposes her real DNA
It's pure ruthless strategy for preventing Hillary's exposure to potential criticism and attacks. She is not strong enough to handle them.
In no way will She take the chance of an appearance to be accused of insensitivity while someone is being held hostage. She is a weak leader
Will Hillary be the first president to be wearing "DEPENDS" during a crisis? Holy CRap!////
Posted by Albert Sterlini | November 30, 2007 6:49 PM
By being in those states she has offended him and must acknowledge his human rights. She caused this incident by establishing an office in NH in this mans backyard. What did she think was going to happen when she took over that property? She should let him keep the property. Does she expect him to go to a hospital or jail? That's cruel and against his human rights. Carrying bombs into the building is what you get when you do the things clinton has done. If he killed dozens of innocent people it would all be Hillary's fault for antagonizing this man.

Don't forget the "Staged Picture Op" when Pres. Bill Clinton was on CNN live walking along Normandy beach and Pres.
